Refresher Course for Human Subjects' Research
On January 1, 2009, the HSPP and IRB implemented a refresher course requirement for human subjects' researchers. Human subjects' training must be renewed every two years, i.e. two years after the Investigator's most recent human subjects' training. The online refresher course provided by CITI takes approximately 1 hour to complete. The completion report for the refresher will be due once a new Initial or Continuing Review application is submitted. The completion report for the original course does not need to be submitted.
CITI Online Refresher Course
Follow the steps below to sign up for the CITI Refresher Course:
- Go to www.citiprogram.org
- Login with username and password
- Under "My Courses," enter the course entitled "Human Research"
- Complete the "Integrity Assurance Statement"
- Completing the "Integrity Assurance Statement" will allow entrance into each required module:
- "How to Complete the CITI Refresher Course and Receive the Completion Report"
- "Refresher Course 101 Introduction"
- Modules 1-5
The course may be re-taken as many times as necessary to obtain a 90% average overall. Investigators can re-enter the modules with their lowest score and re-take the associated quizzes to reach a score of 90%.
