Exempt Flow Chart
- Depending on your research design and what you are studying, your research may be EXEMPT. Research that is classified as exempt is exempt from federal regulations, but not exempt from University Policy. As such, an abbreviated application will need to be submitted to the Human Subjects' Protection Program.
- By answering questions about your research study, the following links will help you determine if your research is exempt. Please note, when answering the questions, consider ALL activities you will be doing in your research project. If you misclassify your research as exempt, you will be required to resubmit an application via the standard application process, which will delay your processing.
