Office of Research Compliance

Welcome!

The Office of Research Compliance, a unit of the Division of Research and Graduate Studies at Texas A&M University, is responsible for providing training and support to faculty, students and staff in regulatory requirements for scientific research.  The Office of Research Compliance seeks to promote and ensure the highest standards for research compliance throughout Texas A&M.

The Office of Research Compliance is primarily divided into two groups which provide administrative and operational support for two of Texas A&M's research compliance oversight committees:

  • The Human Subjects' Protection Program supports the functions of the Institutional Review Board [IRB] at Texas A&M.  The IRB ensures that ethical and safe research practices are used when research is conducted with Human Subjects.  IRB approval is required before beginning any research with human subjects.
  • The Animal Welfare Assurance Program supports the functions of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee [IACUC] at Texas A&M.  The IACUC ensures that federal regulations and guidelines are followed to protect both animals and researchers when research is conducted with animals.  IACUC approval is required before beginning any research with animals

Both the Animal Welfare Assurance Program and the Human Subjects' Protection Program serve as a link between the research community at Texas A&M and the IACUC and IRB committees, respectively.  The program coordinators and their staff are happy to assist researchers with the preparation of committee protocol applications.

In addition, the Office of Research Compliance is also involved in other key areas of research administration at Texas A&M:
